Having traveled so much lately, we were happy to take a break at home, and celebrate the 4th of July with friends that came to see us. Jaime had an important birthday during the weekend, so I invited her come up and party it up with me. She arrived on the 4th, so we kicked off what I dubbed as her "birthday long weekend" with fireworks in a nearby town.
It was James's first time seeing fireworks and he loved it! You could see the excitement and wonder in his face, and the next day he was asking for more fireworks. Sorry, James, you'll have to wait until next year!
Actually, I'm not sure who's more excited, Jaime or James
Ka-boom!
As usual, James has the best seat in the house
Snuggling Dadad
The logistics were a little tricky because the fireworks were after James's bedtime, and the town's parking spaces were significantly more limited than the number of people who wanted to attend. The latter problem could have been avoided because Kevin told us numerous times to get ready early, but you know, girls. The driving around was a little tough for our cranky sleepy boy. Still, we managed to find a spot by sneaking into a fancy neighborhood on hill with a view of the water.
Jaime, me, and James, driving Kevin crazy and having a blast! No pun intended.
Family photo, no fireworks.
Since we were in a small space between other cars trying to do the same thing, it was tough to get our picture with the high up fireworks. So I cheated a little. Okay a lot:
Happy Birthday, America!
Check out last year's
4th of July on the Cape, and our
first 4th of July as a family of three at home in 2011.
