Miranda's Nursery School Graduation 2018

Today was Miranda's last day of nursery school but she had her graduation on Monday. Her teachers sent this cute little book about her progress in class. I'm so sad to leave Wisdom Tree. Next year she starts real Pre-K in Omaha!

Someone Special Celebration 2018

Halloween 2016

Instead of writing 500 posts about all the Halloween fun we've had this month, I'm going to use a little self-control for once and just make one long post.

Monday, I took them trick-or-treating after James came home. We were out for about an hour, until their little hands froze and they couldn't carry the pumpkins anymore. I had to carry Miranda back for a stretch of the walk. After dinner and half of Curious George's Halloween movie, Kevin got home from work and took them to a few bonus houses because he didn't want to miss out on the trick-or-treating. They were basically the only kids out at 8 pm, which James loved and Miranda said was "spooky."

Pokemon with Adam and Colleen 2016

Okay, so I've been playing Pokemon Go since July 11, about a week after it was released in the US. It's not the big time waster that people assume it is because you have to walk to play so it overlaps with the time I spent walking and exercising before. The thing that makes it a bit of a time-waster is that now it's harder for me to listen to podcasts or audiobooks while walking.

One problem is that there are no "pokestops" (not to be confused with "gyms") anywhere near my house. You need the things you collect from pokestops- such as pokeballs- to catch the Pokemon. I tried to walk to the closest ones and they are way too far. Also, there aren't a lot of sidewalks in my neighborhood so it's not super safe to be focused on my phone while I'm walking.

Adam and Colleen offered to take me with them to the park nearby where there are a ton of stops around a walking track. I had so much fun! I had great company, we got exercise, and the track was full of other locals playing. We were all talking to each other and would randomly run to catch a Pokemon or to tell other people where to catch one. A bit ridiculous, but very fun.

Father's Day Weekend 2016

We celebrated Father's Day with Kevin this weekend. Saturday was Family Day and we had a strangely relaxed fun time at the beach. We decided to go, got our stuff quickly and it only took us about 12 minutes to get the beach. The kids had fun and after about 2 hours we came back. No drama!

Sunday was Father's Day, and Kevin slept in, we made him breakfast, and later he took the kids to the playground. A very laid back fun weekend!
