SBU Farewell 2018

Kevin has worked at Stony Brook for 10 years! He's the Assistant Program Director and a Senior Lecturer in The Program in Writing and Rhetoric (which at SBU is separate from the English Department). He's leaving behind a lot of coworkers who are friends- and a decade of seeing these friends on a daily basis. Since we moved to Miller Place, I've become friends with many of his coworkers too. We're going to miss a lot of people, though we fully plan to meet up in New York and maybe even Nebraska? Haha, well, we'll see about the latter.

Last SBU Graduation 2018

Kevin has worked at SBU since 2008, and this Friday he had his last graduation there. Some of his students asked him for pictures. He has one more summer class, and he's helping his colleagues transition to the new school year without him.

Next school year he starts as the Program Coordinator of the MFA in Writing at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He will join the UNO Writer’s Workshop as an Assistant Professor of Fiction. We're moving to Nebraska!

Poetry Out Loud 2018

The PWR Program helped judge Poetry Out Loud, a program to encourages the high school students to learn about poetry through memorization and recitation.

Last Tuesday night, we took the kids to Kevin's work for a movie night. Lots of students, faculty, staff, and their families went. Kids didn't pay attention too much. They were mostly trying o play with other kids.

On Wednesday, Erika read from her book, The Book of Speculation, at Stony Brook University for the Program in Writing and Rhetoric's Reading Series. This is the reading series that Kevin created and organizes at work. It went really well!

Program in Writing Holiday Party 2016

Kevin's work had a holiday party and he took me and Miranda with him. James was at school at the time. The lunch party was at Pita House, a little Mediterranean-Turkish restaurant in East-Setauket. It was so delicious! It was my favorite SBU get-together so far, I think because sitting around a table made it so relaxed. The company was very fun, and of course, brilliant.

First Day of Semester for Kevin 2016

Monday was Kevin's first day of the Fall Semester! Even though he's been teaching classes all summer, and indeed, all of Miranda's life, Miranda was not having it that morning. Don't go Dada! Take me!

Aida's Art Exhibit Opening Reception 2016

On Friday we went to Gallery North for the Opening Reception of an art exhibition where Pete's my wife Aida's abstract paintings are featured. Her work is great and the exhibit itself - featuring 4 artists- was very well arranged for maximum effect.
