Becky and Jon's Baby Shower 2012

Jon and Becky had their baby shower at one of my favorite bars in Brooklyn, Local 61. It was the perfect bar for a shower because there were lots of other babies and kids there. Take note, Brooklyn parents. It was a nice turn out. Lots of their friends came in addition to Jon and Becky's parents, their brothers and sisters, and two adorable nieces.

We enjoyed beers, snacks, and good conversation. We filled out a little baby guestbook/journal, played a little madlibs about the baby, and decorated some blocks for the baby. Good times!

I can't tell you how excited I am for their baby! I already have babysitting loosely penciled on their calendar, depending on when Becky does her big trip with her NYU MBA program. Oh that's right, mom-to-be Becky goes to work, is getting her MBA, and is about to start mothering on top of all that. She can do it. She's run the NYC marathon. She's got this. Besides, she's got Jon, and he's going to be a wonderful father too.

Megan's Baby Shower 2012

Megan's sister Melissa and her close friends threw her a wonderful baby shower to celebrate the upcoming April arrival of her son.

The surprise party was held in her own house in Maryland so her family stayed overnight at a hotel so that they wouldn't tip her off. Her friend Laurie took her out to get her nails done to distract her. Meanwhile everyone rushed in to cook and decorate in a jungle-theme to compliment the baby's nursery theme.  Melissa made a delicious jungle/Spanish theme spread.  Think empanadas, mango salsa, and banana-vanilla smoothies. Yum.

Besides the usual present-opening, someone had the clever idea to let the guests decorate some plain white bibs using fabric markers.  Some of the guests were extremely artistic. Others made up for their lack of artistic ability with funny sayings. Amusing for the guests and for the parents.

Christina's Baby Shower 2011

This weekend I went to Christina's amazingly nice baby shower at Locanda Verde in Tribeca. There were tons of friends and family and they hosted a delicious bunch with multiple courses. Baby Hudson is going to be a lucky boy surrounded with so much love.

My Baby Shower 2011

My mother's friends and the two baby-grandmas threw me a beautiful baby shower this weekend. I was so happy to see so many friends and family there, and I could not believe how overly-generous everyone was. Baby Clou is going to be so lucky to have all these fantastic people in his life, much as I am.

There were also lots of my favorite Cuban appetizers, but sadly I got to eat none. I hope the rest of you got an education in croquetas, guava pastelitos, and bocadillos.  Even the baby food jars with my head pasted on the baby were appropriately mango flavored (my favorite!). Ash sent out the most beautiful invitations, Janice got a delicious kick-ass cake, and Sarah bought some perfectly coordinated balloons to the party. Lots of friends came from far away, and everyone was politely shocked at how ginormous I am. The photos really don't do my circumference justice.
