Dundee Parade 2018

Dundee is a nice residential neighborhood in midtown Omaha, and near to the downtown. Dundee actually used to be its own town (just like Millard where we live) but Omaha annexed it in 1915. Anyway, I specifically wanted to go to the parade because Kara Eastman sent an email about it. Off we went!

St. Patrick's Day 2018

We had lots of fun this year for St. Patrick's Day. We went to our local parade, Kevin made corned beef, and we wore green for what felt like a week.

The kids were all assigned aprons to decorate. James was assigned Jack and Jill so Kevin drew a well on the front of his apron and I sewed on a bucket.

Spring Hat Parade 2016

James's Pre-K had a Spring Hat Parade at school last week! We had to make the hats ourselves. We repurposed a hat Uncle Andrew gave him to make it more spring-like. I was careful to make the additions so it could go back to being a normal hat afterwards.

St. Patrick's Day 2016

It was more like St. Patrick's week. The Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, our town had a big St. Patrick's Day Parade. After the parade, we made James's Leprechaun Catcher for school.

Because we had a lot of stuff going on Thursday, Kevin made corned beef sandwiches on Wednesday. They were really delicious this year. Kevin and I had Guinness with them.

Toasting at dinner! I think this was James's idea.

James had a St. Patrick's Day Party at school so we all put on our green, except Miranda who doesn't have any, and we took him in.

James also had his first "friend's birthday party" that night... more on that later. Jon came over to watch some March Madness games and enjoyed one of the corned beef sandwiches.

James's Pre-K Halloween Party 2015

James doesn't go to school on Fridays this semester, but he was invited to come and celebrate at the parade and party. We got there around the time of the parade, and his classmates were so excited to see him they all shouted "Hi James! James is here!" when we arrived. Oh my gosh, I love these sweet kids in his class.

They started out with playing different games in the hallway and trick-or-treating at the other classrooms. (Adorable.)

After that they killed a little time before the parade was scheduled to begin reading a Halloween book.

Halloween storytime!

At last! Parade time! There were a bunch of parents waiting outside. (Like I suppose we were supposed to do- whoops!) The parade consisted of the 3- and 4-year-olds walking around a little piece of grass approximately a million times. They enjoyed this. They two-year-olds were invited to sit outside and watch. The under-twos were kept inside because like Miranda, they cannot be trusted.

Then it was time for the big party! The parents brought in a ton of treats, and because they're little kids instead of serving themselves they just all got one of everything. Can you say SUGAR CRASH? Haha. The day before Halloween, mind you!
