Kansas City, MO 2018

We flew in and out of the Kansas City airport to fly directly to Boston. So when we returned we decided to check out Kansas City, MO and other parts of Kansas. Kansas City itself is partly in Missouri and partly in Kansas. This post is just about the Missouri side. The Kansas part is my next post.

Nantucket 2017

Friday we went to Nantucket to see Jeff and Caroline while they're visiting in the states. It was my first trip to Nantucket and Kevin hadn't been there since he was a teen!

Watkins Glen State Park, NY 2017

On Sunday, we packed up the house and started driving back with plans to go to Watkins Glen State Park on the way. It's a beautiful walk around a gorge with the Glen Creek stream and waterfalls.

There was also a playground there for the kids so we let them get some energy out before we got back in the car to drive back home.

Visiting Christie in Rochester, NY 2017

After the children's museum, we met up with Christie for dinner at the Genesee Brew House restaurant. I was so excited to see her! I haven't seen her in a few years but it was just the same. She's the nicest person and we can talk nonstop. There was a little wait for dinner so we went to the attached brewery, and did a beer tasting.

Christie, Kevin, and I did a tasting in the Brewery

This was the third time the kids ate out on this trip with some mixed results. James is good to go on restaurants and enjoys them. Miranda often won't eat even her favorite foods at a restaurant and instead just wants to drink chocolate milk or sugary drinks as much as possible. Then she likes to freak out over nothing because of the sugar high. I know, this is my fault because parenting.  Good luck with your own threenagers, haha.

Dinner- James was well-behaved, Miranda... sigh.

After dinner, we went for a little stroll over the Genesee River and with a view of the falls. The sun was in our eyes, but Christie and I are professional models. The kids, not so much.

The Strong Museum of Play 2017

We had plans to see my friend Christie in Rochester on Saturday night. She and other people in the Finger Lakes recommended The Strong Museum for kids so we went there in the afternoon before meeting up with Christie. It was insane. I've been to some children's museums around the country, but this was the biggest, most involved, I've visited yet. Here's a biblical number of pictures.
