First Omaha Snow 2018

So it already snowed here on October 14, but I'm not freaking out because it definitely snowed on Long Island in October one year when James was a baby. But I hope we still get autumn!

Preparation Canyon State Park, Iowa 2018

We went hiking in Iowa! Preparation Canyon was a former Mormon settlement, and hiking there you could see why they picked that particular area- really gorgeous and very different looking, at least different from the areas we're used to hiking around.

UNO Concert Series- October 2018

The University of Nebraska's School of Music has an International Concert Series. As part of that series, they brought Mark Bernat, an amazing double bassist, to perform on campus. Kevin and I went to a delicious ramen dinner at Jinya Ramen Bar, the concert, and then dessert at Freezing Thai Rolled Ice Cream. Perfect date night!

Book Fair 2018

Parents were invited to lunch with their kids and to shop at the book fair. James is still so happy whenever I come to his school things. It's so sweet. I got to meet his friends, ran into Lindsay and Hans, and then we bought a couple of books: Dog Man and Minecraft.

Roxane Gay Reading 2018

Our idea of an awesome date night is going to a Roxane Gay reading. On Friday, she read at UNO from her essay collection Hunger and answered a lot of questions. I'm a big fan of Roxane Gay's Bad Feminist and Hunger books. I recommend them.

PreSchool Story Time- October 2018

James's school, and Miranda's school next year, has PreSchool Storytime once a month in the library. Luckily it's in the morning so I was able to take Miranda before her afternoon PreK class. First, we had story time and songs. Miranda felt too shy to sit with the other kids during story time. Then we had a craft. Then Miranda got to check out a book (on James's account). Really great class- and it was all free!

Fireman Visit at PreK 2018

James Has New Friends 2018

James has a bunch of new friends in his class at school. Albert, Andrew, Aqib, and Holden. He does walking club in the morning, and often walks with Andrew from his class. He also has some friends from our regular visits to the park. The other day we ran into his friend Andrew at the park, and I got to chat with his mom Lindsay. This week we had a fun playdate at their house, along with Miranda, Andrew's older brother Miles, and their youngest brother Hans. So much fun!
