Richmond Food Cooperative 2012

A month ago, I wrote about Michele's departure from New York to start a food co-op in Richmond. She and her co-op co-founder Susan are hard at work already! The Richmond Food Cooperative has had meetings with the committee heads and an event to meet prospective members.  The co-op has a Facebook page, and now the Richmond Food Cooperative blog up and running! I was going to stay up a little to write the "SE Roadtrip Day 12: Nashville" post, but my husband claims that it can wait. He told me to go to sleep, because "who's waiting on this post?"

Nomar is a Little Famous 2010

One of my pictures of Nomar made it onto a heavily-trafficked blog. The photo is ridiculous. The article, Taste Tests Show Frozen Diet Meals Now Shockingly Edible, at The Consumerist Blog, features Nomar licking the remnants of my Lean Cuisine when we were living in Charlottesville. Whenever you are not looking, Nomar will attempt to steal your fish, lick your cheese, or -gross- lick raw chicken. Interestingly, Nomar does not care for sushi.

This is his second run-in with fame, as last year he appeared on meteorologist Tim Kelley's New England Cable News segment on "Work Party" Pictures.

Kevin, Brady, and I spent New Years Eve at Ash's. We had a lot of fun, a lot of drinks, and a lot of finger food.

The next morning we stayed for brunch, and a SVU marathon (you know you love it), and went to a petting farm. Really.

And honestly, we're still at Ash's house, so at this point it's unclear if we're ever leaving or if Ash will eventually make us leave, by say, calling the cops on us or something.

Baby Owen 2009!

Belated baby news. My friend Chrissy and her husband Jason had a super cute baby just before Christmas. I was waiting to have a proper picture to post. They opted not to find out the baby's gender early so: It's a boy! Ha ha. My post name gave it away I guess. His name is Owen and he is adorable. (His blog is http://babyvonderhaar.blogspot.com/.)

Things My Wife Complains About: #6 Posting Boring Updates to Her Blog

The Belle and Sebastian song "My Wandering Days Are Over" begins, "You know my wandering days are over / Does that mean that I'm getting boring?" It's a rhetorical question. Of course, the narrator is getting boring. If his wandering days were still going on, he might be a little not boring, but too bad they're over. Right now, he's probably writing a boring blog or reading a boring blog or having a boring conversation about reading or writing one. Those are the only options in the modern world.

Eventually, my wife will complain about Things My Wife Complains About, and things will get really meta. In the meantime, things have become only mildly meta, as I'm using her blog to register her complaint about how boring her blog is.

Proposed Solutions!

1) Resist the temptation to catalog ever trip, concert, athletic event, wedding, baptism, bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, quinceanera, spelling bee, parade, rave, exorcism, and intervention and only update the blog when something interesting happens.
2) Redirect the mission of the blog to documenting inherently interesting topics like unintentionally hilarious NFL apparel.
3) Only do not boring things all of the time (hard).

Welcome to our new family blog. I was inspired by my friends' yearly Christmas updates and my friends at Wanderings and Our little British baby to keep our own little family story. Part news update-- part personal keepsake. (Did you know that you can turn a blog into a printed book with just a few clicks on Blurb?)

I was going to wait until the anniversary of meeting Kevin next week to talk about how we met, but a search of my Gmail account (if you're using unsearchable email, why bother?) turned up something so amazing, I had to start today.

I like it not only because it's funny, but because it's so sad and scary. I know some of you are single and you worry about being alone or "settling." Well, I hope you take heart that I got this email exactly three years ago, the day before my future husband's first email to me. Kevin hates clichés, but "it's always darkest before dawn" is pretty appropriate here:
